Which Japanese Port Will Your Used Tire Container Ship From?

The 13 Japanese export ports grouped by region: Ishikari and Tomakomai in Hokkaido, Hachinohe, Akita and Sendai in Tohoku, Niigata and Kashiwazaki on the Sea of Japan, Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya, and Osaka, Kobe and Moji

Buyers often assume every container from Japan leaves Yokohama. It does not. We load at 13 ports spread from Hokkaido to Kyushu, and the port your container sails from depends on where the tires are collected and which service reaches your destination fastest.

The 13 ports we ship from

  • Hokkaido: Ishikari, Tomakomai
  • Tohoku: Hachinohe, Akita, Sendai
  • Sea of Japan side: Niigata, Kashiwazaki
  • Kanto: Tokyo, Yokohama
  • Chubu: Nagoya
  • Kansai: Osaka, Kobe
  • Kyushu: Moji

All thirteen are working options, not a list of ports we could theoretically use. Which one applies to your order is confirmed at the quotation stage.

Why the port changes from order to order

1. Where the tires come from

Used tires are collected across Japan, and moving a loaded container overland is expensive. A load built mainly from Hokkaido stock goes out through Ishikari or Tomakomai; stock gathered around the Kanto region ships from Tokyo or Yokohama. Matching the port to the stock is what keeps the inland cost out of your price.

2. Which service reaches your port

Sailing frequency and routing to your destination differ by port. A container to a West African port and a container to a US west coast port do not necessarily want the same departure point, even when the cargo is identical.

3. What you ordered

Truck and bus tires, light truck tires, passenger car tires and casings are not all held in the same place. A mixed load can shift the sensible departure port compared with a single-type load.

Does the port affect your price?

We quote CIF only, so the freight and the insurance to your destination port are already inside the number we give you. You are not quoting one price and then discovering an inland haulage charge later. What the port choice really affects is transit time and sailing schedule, which is why we confirm it with you before booking rather than after.

Can you visit the yard before shipping?

Yes. Buyers are welcome at our yard once the purchase is confirmed, and many buyers who ship regularly come once and then buy remotely afterwards. If you want to see the grading and the loading for yourself before committing to a bigger programme, tell us at the enquiry stage so we can plan the visit around a loading day.

FAQ

Which ports in Japan do you export used tires from?

Ishikari, Tomakomai, Hachinohe, Akita, Sendai, Niigata, Kashiwazaki, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Moji.

Can I choose the loading port?

Tell us your preference and we will work to it where the stock and the sailing schedule allow. The port is confirmed with you before booking.

Can I inspect the tires in Japan?

Yes, yard visits are welcome after the purchase is confirmed.
