We ship used tires from Japan by the container. Thailand tightened its import rules sharply in 2025, and the change closes off most of what this page would normally cover — we say so plainly rather than write around it.
Bangkok (Khlong Toei)
A June 2025 Commerce Ministry notice, effective 24 July 2025, banned the import of used passenger car, motorcycle and bicycle tires outright (HS 4012.11.00 / 4012.20.10, plus tire waste under 4004.00.00). The only route that remains is bus and truck casings (HS 4012.20.21 / 4012.20.29) imported solely to be retreaded and re-exported, under a Non-Automatic Import License from the Department of Foreign Trade.
What this means for an order
If you are a general importer or retailer buying passenger tires for the domestic market, we cannot supply Thailand under current rules — the ban covers exactly that trade. If you operate a retreading business importing TBR casings on a re-export licence, that route is still open, and we can quote it once you confirm you hold the licence.
We would rather tell you this before a quotation than after a container is booked. If TBR retreading for re-export is not your business, we can suggest a market where the rules fit — ask us.
The ocean route
Laem Chabang is Thailand’s largest container port (about 9.46 million TEU in 2024). Bangkok (Khlong Toei) is the second option, closer to the capital.
We load from thirteen Japanese ports — Ishikari, Tomakomai, Hachinohe, Akita, Sendai, Niigata, Kashiwazaki, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Moji. Which one we use depends on where the stock is collected, not on where you are.
We do not publish transit times, because they depend on the carrier and the routing on the day. Ask us when you enquire and we will give you the schedule we are actually being quoted.
What fits in a container
- Passenger car tires (PCR), 12–17 inch — about 3,500 pieces in a 40ft, loaded 2-in-1 or 3-in-1
- Truck and bus tires (TBR), 11R22.5 single size — 288 pieces in a 40ft
- Mixed PCR and light truck — roughly 2,200 PCR plus 500–550 LT pieces

Terms and payment
We quote CIF to your discharge port. Marine insurance is included on every shipment. Freight is normally prepaid in Japan; collect at your end can be arranged if that suits your bank better.
Most customers pay by T/T. For a yearly contract we also work with L/C at sight.

Can I still import passenger car tires from Japan into Thailand?

Is there any route still open?
Only bus and truck casings (HS 4012.20.21 / 4012.20.29) imported for retreading and re-export, under a Non-Automatic Import License from the Department of Foreign Trade. If that is your business, tell us at the enquiry stage.
I am a general tire retailer. Can you supply me?
Not into Thailand under the current rules. We would rather say so now than after you have spent time on a quotation. Ask us about a different market if useful.
What is the minimum order for the TBR re-export route?
One 40ft container, subject to your licence covering the volume.
Does this apply to all of Thailand or specific provinces?
The ban is national, set by the Ministry of Commerce. It is not a provincial measure.
