We ship used tires from Japan by the container. Myanmar is the one market in our research where we could not resolve the rules to our own satisfaction, and we would rather say that plainly than write around it.
Thilawa
We checked Myanmar’s official Automatic and Non-Automatic Licensing List directly. Ordinary passenger, bus and truck tires (HS 4012.20, excluding aircraft tires) do not appear on either list at all. That could mean no licence is required, or it could mean the category is excluded from the list because it is not importable — the document does not say which, and we could not find an official notice settling it either way. Reports of a blanket tire import ban exist but we could not locate the underlying text.
Why we recommend confirming before you order
On top of the licensing ambiguity, a rule effective January 2026 limits each importer to one licence application per HS code per month, and foreign exchange controls have tightened since August 2025. None of this makes an order impossible — it makes it a market where a Myanmar-side agent or customs broker needs to check TradeNet 2.0 for your specific case before you commit to a shipment.
We can still quote you. We just will not tell you the paperwork is simple when our own check of the primary source left it unresolved.
The ocean route
Yangon is the main port. Thilawa, nearby, handles a share of general and RoRo cargo.
We load from thirteen Japanese ports — Ishikari, Tomakomai, Hachinohe, Akita, Sendai, Niigata, Kashiwazaki, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe and Moji. Which one we use depends on where the stock is collected, not on where you are.
We do not publish transit times, because they depend on the carrier and the routing on the day. Ask us when you enquire and we will give you the schedule we are actually being quoted.

What fits in a container
- Passenger car tires (PCR), 12–17 inch — about 3,500 pieces in a 40ft, loaded 2-in-1 or 3-in-1
- Truck and bus tires (TBR), 11R22.5 single size — 288 pieces in a 40ft
- Mixed PCR and light truck — roughly 2,200 PCR plus 500–550 LT pieces
Full size lists and grading are on the category pages: passenger car tires, truck & bus tires, light truck tires and casings for retreading.

Terms and payment
We quote CIF to your discharge port. Marine insurance is included on every shipment. Freight is normally prepaid in Japan; collect at your end can be arranged if that suits your bank better.
Most customers pay by T/T. For a yearly contract we also work with L/C at sight.
FAQ — importing used tires from Japan to Myanmar
Is importing used tires into Myanmar legal?
We checked the official licensing lists directly and ordinary car and truck tires are not mentioned on either the automatic or non-automatic list. That is genuinely ambiguous rather than a clear yes or no — we recommend your Myanmar-side agent confirm via TradeNet 2.0 before you order.
I have read that tire imports are banned. Is that true?
It is reported in multiple places, but we could not find the official notice that states it. We are not confident enough either way to tell you it is or is not banned.
Are there other restrictions to know about?
Since January 2026, each importer is limited to one licence application per HS code per month. Foreign exchange controls have also tightened since August 2025.
What is the minimum order?
One 40ft container, subject to your side confirming the import is workable.
Can you still quote me while this is unresolved?
Yes. We just ask that you or your customs broker confirm the licensing position for your specific shipment before we book anything.
